our mission

Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church is dedicated to witnessing the teachings of Jesus Christ, especially the Gospel of Saint Matthew, Chapter 25:31-46. Our mission is to nurture the spirit and to encourage the potential of those we serve through liturgical celebration, educational endeavors and social justice ministries. The parish will continue to identify with its origin as a Black Catholic parish. As a diverse and multi-ethnic congregation we will seek to promote racial harmony and social justice. While our primary focus is within the immediate community, we will also work to provide for the well-being of the marginalized everywhere. In this we strive for our parish community to be a caring, sharing, and loving family.

Haiti Committee Update:
Medor Fact Sheet
OLQP has “twinned” with and supported Medor, a rural community of 40,000 spread over 74 miles in the mountains of central Haiti, since 1997. The Arlington church — founded as the first black parish in the diocese 65 years ago and then integrated by supportive white Catholics in the 1960’s — has supported the construction of schools, clean water projects, health programs and a refor-estation project.

Our Pantry Needs Replenishing!
Please help to replenish our pantry which serves nearly 140 families each month. We are running low on the following items: rice (large bags appreciated, we will rebag), dry beans (again we will repackage), canned vegetables, soup, small jars of peanut butter, small jars of jelly, pasta and pasta sauce.

Thank you for continued generousity of our parish community!
